Lewis Hill was in fine form at the weekend as Lutterworth returned to winning ways against Langtons.
Lutterworth batted first and Hill made 141 as his side racked up 286-9 from their 50 overs. Hill’s innings was arguably made more impressive by the fact no other batsmen made more than 35 for his side.
Jarrad Pickering then took responsibility with the ball, removing every member of the Langtons’ top five, finishing with 5-53. Alec Hill took three wickets and Darren Cader two as Langtons were skittled for 92 all out.
Uppingham Town’s game with Kegworth was short but sweet for Uppingham as they rolled Kegworth for 56 before chasing their target for the loss of three wickets. With the ball Tom Hynes took 4-27 from eight overs and Danny Dumford returned incredible figures of 5-1-8-4.
Kegworth then had Uppingham 0-2 and must have felt in the game with Alex Fletcher taking two early wickets. Benjamin Farnsworth remained unmoved with 31* to guide his side to a crucial victory.
Joe Kendall was in sublime form for Leicester Ivanhoe as they ran out comfortable winners against Barkby. Opening the batting Kendall made 128 as Ivanhoe were bowled out for 269. Mitch Carey added 32 and Richard Durose 23 as Barkby faced a daunting chase. Cameron Sharp was the pick of the bowlers for Barkby, taking five for 60, including the wicket of Kendall.
Barkby continuously lost wickets as all the Ivanhoe bowlers chipped in, both Academy seamer Alex Evans and Sub-Academy quick James Graham took three wickets and Jack Gilford and Carey both took two as Ivanhoe won by 176 runs.
Sileby secured a good win against Loughborough Town with Liam Kinch in fine form with the bat. Loughborough won the toss and elected to bat with Sam Bates and Shyam Patel top-scoring with 42, however, their side only made 181. Ryan Dawson and Jake Gillett both took three wickets for Sileby.
Academy all-rounder Ben Mike gave his side hope with two early wickets but former Fox Jigar Naik and Kinch saw their side to victory, adding 141 for the fourth wicket. Naik was the more circumspect of the pair he made 51* from 65 balls whereas Kinch hit 83 from just 71 balls (13x4,1x6)
A total of 15 wickets fell between Market Harborough and Barrow Town. Harborough batted first and all-rounder Don Butchart was in good form with the bat making 77 as his side posted 166. Umar Afzal took four wickets for Barrow and Rajneesh Kumar took three.
Barrow were always comfortable in their chase although Butchart gave them a scare, he took four of the five wickets to fall to give Harborough hope.
However, Butchart’s Academy colleague Jack Nightingale made 52 and, at the top of the order, Barrow captain Ramesh Kara 56 had put Barrow in the driving seat. Yash Ramesh (19 not out) and Tom Shipman (8*) saw Barrow home by five wickets.
The final game in the league between Kibworth and Syston was abandoned.
Away from Leicestershire, Dieter Klein continued his recovery from injury, taking three for 46 from 10 overs as Lowerhouse ran out comfortable winners against Crompton in the Lancashire League.
Rob Sayer had a good all-round day for Peterborough. Sayer scored 52 opening the batting as his side chased down 234 set to them by Oundle Town, and earlier in the day the off-spinner returned figures of 1-47 from his 10 overs.
Cameron Delport had a fine game for Ashcombe Park, he took four for 43 as his side bowled out Checkley CC for 185. Delport then batted at number four and hit a rapid 47 from 29 balls (9x4, 1x6).
