The Leicestershire Premier League was hampered by bad weather this week with only three games going the full distance in the Premier League.
Tom Wells shone with the ball this week as his Loughborough Town side won easily against Syston. Loughborough batted first and Leicestershire CCC Strength & Conditioning Coach Greg Hollins scored 94 out of his side’s 235, Charlie Lowen also contributed 43. Vibhu Yadav took 5-31 for Syston.
Wells then got to work with the ball; he opened the bowling and took 4-10 from just 6.2 overs as Syston slipped to 76-8 from 22 overs before the rain set in with Loughborough taking the points.
Kegworth bowled Market Harborough out for 166 with George Scottorn and Ian Dade both taking three wickets, Don Butchart of the Leicestershire Academy top-scoring for Harborough with 37. Kegworth were ahead of the rate when the rain set in with the score 109-2 from 17 overs and took the points. Brent Williams was in the runs again with 60 not out.
The final game in the division to see a result was between Sileby and Uppingham. Uppingham were bowled out for 167, Jigar Naik taking 3-25 from 10 overs and Liam Kinch and Harry Bates each claiming two wickets. Sileby were 96-3 when the rain started and therefore won by seven wickets.
The other three games were all abandoned. Kibworth bowled Lutterworth out for 157 and would have fancied their chances. Oliver Pickering made 59, while Charlie Page-Morris recorded figures of 4-19 from 7.2 overs.
Langtons had Barkby 21-3 having posted 209. Saeed Manga top-scored for Langtons with 57 and Sadik Dukanwala contributed 36. Asif Mai took one wicket and Muhammad Sarfraz two leaving Barkby in trouble before the rain came.
Barrow had posted 189 against Leicester Ivanhoe before the rain curtailed the Ivanhoe chase. Leicestershire’s Sam Evans showed his all-round skills taking four for 11 from just five overs, Academy seamer Alex Evans who has played for the Second Team this summer, took 2-18 from his seven overs.
Away from Leicestershire leagues, Foxes all-rounder Ateeq Javid made 88 for Berkswell before their game was abandoned against West Bromwich.
