2018 League round-up 14

Leicestershire Academy all-rounder James Dickinson had a good all-round performance for Kegworth as they beat league leaders Leicester Ivanhoe on Saturday.

Kegworth won the toss and elected to bowl, Matt Twigg top-scored with 76 while Leicestershire CCC’s Sam Evans made 34 and Harry Josephs 28 in a total of 252.

Brent Williams and Adam Meads opened the batting and put on 91 for the first wicket. Meads made 50 and Williams followed soon after for 35 to give Ivanhoe a sniff.

Dickinson came in at four, and marshalled his side superbly to a six-wicket victory, hitting 69* after earlier claiming two wickets. Alex Fletcher was the other not out batsman as he hit a rapid 34*.

Lutterworth put the pressure on Ivanhoe as they beat Loughborough Town in a close game. Lutterworth batted first and made 188 from their 50 overs, Wesley Marshall posting 65, while Karl Smith scored 51.

Kyle Saddington returned figures of 4-35 and Ashish Trusz, Sachin Patel and Neel Gandhi all took two wickets.

Loughborough’s reply got off to a solid reply but they lost four quick wickets for 16 runs. Ben Mike looked to steady the ship, making 70, but he was dismissed with the score 156-8 and Loughborough ended up 175 all out, losing by 13 runs.

Uppingham put in a comprehensive performance against Market Harborough. They bowled Harborough out for 54, Alex Ashwin taking four for eight from his 10 overs. Danny Dumford also had impressive figures of three for four from six overs. Uppingham’s openers chased down the total without loss.

Kibworth won comfortably against Barkby. Skipper Sunny Patel top-scored with 53 at the top of the order, Josh Peel also contributed 42 as Kibworth amassed 227. For Barkby, Callum Smith was the pick of the bowlers, taking 5-37 from his 10 overs.

The response got off to a good start as Louis Botting made 30 and Martin Troop 40, Barkby Captain Steve Flowers also made 46, but there were very few contributions from the rest of the order as Barkby slipped to 181 all out. Darren Shaw was the star with the ball taking 4-27 and Richard Jackson 3-38 got Kibworth over the line.

Langtons made 166 against Barrow, who eased to a six-wicket victory. Sarfaraj Patel top-scored with 48, but until Muhammad Sulajee made 41, Langtons looked to be in real trouble. Zakir Patel also contributed with 27 at number nine. Umar Afzal and Rajneesh Kumar both took three wickets.

Langtons had Barrow 23-2 but Rishi Patel guided his side to victory with an unbeaten 63 and Heath Pedrola hit 57 as Barrow won with 16 overs to spare.

The final game in the division between Syston and Sileby was abandoned due to cracks in the outfield.
