2018 League round-up 21

Kibworth landed the Leicestershire and Rutland Premier League after a comfortable victory on the last day made it an incredible 14 wins a row.

After starting the day on top of the league, Kibworth wrapped up a ten-wicket success after bowling Langtons out for 87.

Wickets where shared by Monik Patel (3), Aadil Ali (2), Dave Whitmore (2) and Matthew Bashford (2) before captain Sundeep Patel (50*) and Matt Craven (36*) knocked off the runs inside 11 overs.

Second-placed Lutterworth had to push hard for victory too and were involved in a thriller against third-placed Barrow Town.

Leicestershire’s Lewis Hill (108) and Ollie Pickering (81) batted well, sharing 131 for the second wicket as the visitors put 299 for nine on the board in 50 overs.

It was a good effort from Barrow given the hosts had been 176 for two. Wewalwala Hewage Chanditha did most of the damage by claiming five for 50 from eight overs.

The target was reduced to 292 in 48 overs because of rain, and Barrow won in 42 overs after Ramesh Kara’s excellent unbeaten 137.

With the relegation places already decided, there was nothing resting on the other fixtures in the league, which all ended as no results.

The most play was possible at Barkby United, who were bowled out for 113 by Uppingham Town. The visitors were 9 without loss when the rain arrived.

In other games, Leicester Ivanhoe were 114 for seven against Loughborough Town, Syston Town were 62 for one at Kegworth, and Sileby Town were 107 for four at Market Harborough.
