Harry Swindells’ fine week continued as he made an unbeaten 129 for Leicester Ivanhoe to follow up his century and 85 for the Second XI.
Ivanhoe won the toss and elected to bowl and the decision was vindicated as Barrow were dismissed for 192. Wicket-keeper Rahul Avatar top scored with 54 and was supported by Sardeep Salgotra 30 and Ramesh Kara 28. Lee Hunt took three wickets for Ivanhoe and Jack Gilford two.
Swindells led the Ivanhoe chase hitting 129 not out from 108 balls with (15x4, 1x6) He was supported by Sam Evans 20, Sam Ward 18 and Jake Beaumont 22 not out as Ivanhoe won by seven wickets.
Langtons and Barkby shared a thrilling game where 18 wickets fell and 316 runs were scored. Langtons batted first and were bowled out for 157 in the 34th over. No. 9 Mubarak Patel helped push his side to a competitive score with 44 and opener Sarfaraj Patel made 34. For Barkby Cameron Sharp and Callum Smith both took three wickets.
Barkby were 87 for 5 and the game very much in the balance. Ryan Waplington was the man to guide them home as he was unbeaten on 31 alongside Sharp (10*) as their side won by two wickets. The wickets were shared amongst the Langtons bowlers with both Raag Kapur and Sarfaraj Patel taking two.
A total of 18 wickets was also taken in the game between Lutterworth and Kibworth. Lutterworth were bowled out for 189, Craig Wilson top scored with 34 and Wesley Marshall made 25. Rob Taylor and Monik Patel both took three wickets and Dave Whitmore bowled very economically, taking 2 for 23 from 10 overs.
Kibworth’s response was solid with Matt Craven hitting 24, Aadil Ali 27, Taylor 34 and Josh Peel 23. Charlie Page-Morris had to guide his side home and did so with an unbeaten 43 and wicket-keeper Max Levine scored 12. For Lutterworth, Marshall took 4 for 30 from 10 overs.
Sileby Town won comfortably against Uppingham Town. Sileby bowled first and restricted their opponents to 174 for 9 from 50 overs. Matt Ellis the star with the ball for Sileby taking 4-24 from 10 overs. Danny Dumford top-scored with 36 but when Jigar Naik removed him Uppingham were 118-8. Naik also performed well with the ball in taking 3-28 from 10 overs. Some late hitting from Alex Ashwin and Colan Bartam (both 21) saw their side to a competitive score.
Liam Kinch saw his side to victory with an unbeaten 68 and contributions from Joe Charity (25) and Jake Gillet (34) saw Sileby to a five-wicket victory.
Syston turned on the style as they chased down Loughborough Town’s total of 216 for the loss of just four wickets. Loughborough, batting first, started nicely with Anish Patel and Harvinder Singh Uppal adding 59 for the first wicket. Charlie Lowen, batting at three, top-scored for Loughborough with 87 but a middle order collapse saw the team fall slightly short a good score. Academy bowler Jacob Bailey hit 25 at the end to give his side a bit of a boost.
Syston’s response got off to a good start as Imran Patel and Ketan Dudharejia put on 91 for the first wicket, the two openers fell quickly however, with Syston falling to 103-2. Ram Ghuman steadied the ship at number three, especially when Charles Wootton and Ben Drake fell in quick succession. George Corbett joined Ghuman and they added 31 to see Syston through to victory.
Kegworth were the highest scorers of the day as they made a huge 360 for 4 against Market Harborough. Brent Williams hit the highest score in the league this season with 151 and he was well supported by Academy all-rounder James Dickinson, who made 78 not out. Harborough closed their innings on 187-7, Pathan hit 68 and Howard scored 48.
