Aadil Ali was in fine form with the ball as Kibworth had an excellent 285-run win against Market Harborough on Saturday.
Kibworth won the toss and openers Sunny Patel (109) and Matt Craven (157) both scored centuries as they made 395 from 50 overs. Aadil chipped in with 39 and former Fox Rob Taylor hit 27* off 10 balls (3x6) to get his side to an imposing total.
Harborough’s reply got off to a good start as Tom Leonard (43) and Academy all-rounder Don Butchart (45) put on 80 for the first wicket. However, when Darren Shaw dismissed the openers, Harborough’s batting line up struggled to 110 all out.
Aadil did the majority of the damage, taking 5 for 36 from 10 overs, including a hat-trick. Josh Peel also took three wickets in just eight balls as Kibworth enjoyed a dominant day.
Barrow Town strengthened their grip at the top of the table as they beat last year’s champions Sileby Town. Sileby won the toss and elected to bat and openers Jake Gillet and Dave Torr added 53 for the first wicket.
However, Sileby then lost four wickets for two runs with two wickets apiece for Ankesh Dansuclal and Wewalwala Hewage Chanditha. Sileby rebuilt with several partnerships but were bowled out for 173 with three wickets for Dansuclal and Chanditha and two for Rajneesh Kumar.
Barrow, like Sileby, got off to a solid start with 37 added for the first wicket, but they lost two quick wickets as Jigar Naik looked to swing the game back in his side’s favour. Naik finished his 10 overs with figures of 3-21 but Rishi Patel 43* and Yash Ramesh 50* saw Barrow to a six-wicket win.
Leicester Ivanhoe and Langtons shared a close game, with Ivanhoe winning by just six runs in the end. Langtons won the toss and elected to field, Leicestershire’s Sam Evans and wicket-keeper Joe Kendall added 59 for the first wicket, before a flurry of wickets left Ivanhoe 73-3.
Sam Ward and Jake Beaumont rescued the innings adding 82, Ward made 40 and Beaumont 51. Alex Carrie added 25 with Academy bowler Alex Evans posting 19 as Ivanhoe finished at 238-9. Jakir Khanderao was the pick of the bowlers for Langtons in taking 3-42.
Langtons went from 40-0 to 63-5 as Alex Evans took four wickets. Soyab Salajee was beginning to play a lone hand as he was losing partners. He made 81 when becoming the seventh wicket to fall. The Langtons’ late order was rallying and Mubarak Patel made 34 and Asif Mai 36 getting Langtons within touching distance. Sam Evans and James Graham had other ideas and took the last two wickets to see Ivanhoe to victory.
Academy all-rounder Ben Mike top scored for Loughborough Town but couldn’t prevent his side suffering back-to-back defeats as they lost to Kegworth. Mike (68) opened for Loughborough as they batted first, other contributions came from Anish Patel and Ashish Trusz both made 31 and Charlie Lowen 30, before Loughborough were bowled out for 243.
Five bowlers took two wickets for Kegworth, Academy leg-spinner James Dickinson taking 2-34 from 10 overs being the most economical bowler.
Kegworth’s reply was solid, no batsmen passed 50 but there were numerous contributions. Opener Brent Williams made 35 before falling to Mike, and Dickinson scored 37. The main partnership of the chase saw Kegworth to victory. Wicket-keeper Adam Meads made 42* & Alex Fletcher smashed a rapid 47 not out from just 22 balls (6x4, 2x6) as Kegworth ran out four-wicket winners.
Lutterworth were in fine form for the second week in a row as they put in a dominant performance against Uppingham. Lutterworth batted first with Wesley Marshall making 54, Alec Hill 33 and Craig Wilson was unbeaten on 49*. Mark Cox took 3-24 for Uppingham as Lutterworth finished their innings on 208-8 from 50 overs.
In reply Tom Watson was on for all ten wickets for Lutterworth, he destroyed the Uppingham batting line up, taking the first six wickets to fall. Watson took one more and returned figures of 7-24 from 10 overs. Karl Smith collected two wickets and Alec Hill was also successful as Uppingham were bowled out for 91.
The final game in the division saw Syston beat Barkby. Syston batted first and made 205 before being bowled out. Aleem Mahmood top-scored with 44. Callum Smith, Cameron Sharp and Aiden Morris each took two wickets for Barkby.
Barkby’s chase got off to the worst possible start as the top three all went cheaply as wickets were taken by Vibhu Yadav, George Corbett and Bilal Pardesi.
Captain Steve Flowers kept his side in the game as he made 57 as part of a stand with Ben Silver (27). Unfortunately the skipper fell and the late order couldn’t support Silver as Barkby posted 166 all out. It was a team effort from the Syston bowlers with Pardesi taking three wickets and Zahir Taher and Corbett claiming two apiece.
