2018 League round-up 9

Tom Wells was one of a number of Foxes in sparkling form at the weekend as Loughborough Town landed a great win against Market Harborough.

Loughborough won the toss and elected to bat and this decision was vindicated by Anish Patel (119) and Wells, who hit a terrific 163 not out. The pair added 254 for the first wicket, Patel the one wicket to fall in the innings after facing 112 balls (21x4, 1x6).

Wells was joined by Academy batsman Ashish Trusz who also smashed a century from just 51 balls (17x4, 1x6). Wells faced 140 balls in his knock, hitting 24 fours and a brace of sixes.

Harborough had a go at the total with opener Joe Gordon top scoring with 95 (114 b, 14x4) and Patrick Sadd had a hit out at the end of the innings making 61 (48 b, 8x4, 2x6). Kaz Saddington and Neel Gandhi both took two wickets.

Harry Swindells’ fine summer continued as he hit a hundred for Leicester Ivanhoe, but Kibworth came out winners in a high scoring game.

Kibworth batted first and Captain Sunny Patel top scored, carrying his bat, with 122. His opening partner Matt Craven made 86. Kibworth ended their 50 overs with 301, Hamish Merriman 37 and Monik Patel 22* pushing their total up. Lee Hunt was the standout bowler for Ivanhoe taking 4-27 from 10 overs.

With Ivanhoe 45-3, the pressure was on Swindells to get his side home, he made exactly 100 and was well supported by Jake Beaumont (60) but once the pair fell in quick succession it was game over. Richard Jackson took three wickets and Patel two as Kibworth ran out winners by 46 runs.

Lutterworth went top of the table as they racked up 368 for 7 in their 50 overs against Barkby. Wesley Marshall top scored with 162 and Leicestershire wicket-keeper Lewis Hill made 85. Craig Wilson hit a quick 62* as Lutterworth built an imposing total.

In reply Barkby batted well making 264-9 but lacked a really big individual score to get them in the game. Martin Troop top-scored with 48* and Ben Silver made 47 but no one went on to make a big one as Lutterworth won by 104 runs.

Langtons and Uppingham played out a thriller with the latter winning by just two runs. Uppingham were bowled out for 182, Benjamin Farnsworth made 45 and a couple of late order contributions came from Danny Dumford 22 and Colan Bartram 21*. Sarfaraj Patel took four wickets for just 30 runs from his 10 overs and Tejas Babu 3-32 from his allocation.

In reply Sadik Dukanwala (41) and Soyab Salajee (25) had Langtons on the path to victory but four wickets fell for 33 runs. Mubarak Patel then smashed 39 and when he fell Langtons still needed 28 to win. Sarfaraj Patel and Jakir Khanderao edged the side closer to victory.

Sileby got back to winning ways, beating Kegworth. Sileby batted first and wicket-keeper Mitchell Buck top scored with 86 and Jake Gillet 47 with extras also contributing 31. Gareth Isaac took three wickets for Kegworth.

Kegworth were in trouble at 32 for 3 but Brent Williams looked to steady the ship and he made 50. However, Kegworth went from 73-4 to 172 all out, Harry Bates taking 5 for 38.

Syston put in an impressive performance beating in-form Barrow Town. Syston batted first and Ram Ghuman scored 111 and Charles Wootton 54 as Syston ended their 50 overs 231-5. Ankesh Dunsuclal took 4-35 for Barrow.

Vibhu Yadav then ran through the Barrow top order taking the first six wickets as Barrow slumped to 67-6. In the end Barrow were bowled out for 148, Mo Pardesi claiming two wickets.

Ateeq Javid was in fine form for Berkswell taking 5-46 from 17 overs including the wicket of Worcestershire batsman Tom Fell as his side bowled Wolverhampton out for 171. Javid then marshalled the chase hitting an unbeaten 76* as his side won by two wickets.
