Leicestershire CCC will open the 2020 season at derby rivals Nottinghamshire CCC on Easter Sunday in the County Championship following the release of next summer’s fixtures today.
Foxes supporters can immediately download all of the fixtures to the calendar on their mobile phone and digital devices with a couple of clicks (click HERE) with highlights including a more fan-friendly schedule to make full use of the club’s new £99 membership package.
The club will host six of their seven home Vitality Blast matches in prime slots on a Friday night or at the weekend while the opening 11 County Championship matches will be played on at least one weekend day.
Four Royal London Cup home games will be played during school holidays, from July 22 to August 9, while the Fischer County Ground will again play host to Pakistan for a T20 match against Leicestershire Foxes on Wednesday, August 26.
The new The Hundred tournament will also arrive at the Fischer County Ground on Thursday, July 30 to ensure a bumper summer of cricket awaits for all fans.
Ahead of the 2020 season, Leicestershire CCC Head Coach Paul Nixon said: “Now that the fixtures are released, we can’t wait to get going in 2020.
“Starting the season away Trent Bridge is a great place to lay the foundations for the season ahead. We have been victorious there in recent times in white ball cricket, it will be good to carry that over to the four-day game.
“It is great to see so much cricket available for the fans with the Championship being played over the weekends, and the Blast being in prime slots.
“There is work to do before April comes around, but we’ll be ready when it does.”
After travelling to Trent Bridge to start the Championship season over the Easter period, Nixon’s team will face another derby a week later at Derbyshire CCC before hosting their first four-day match of the season against Glamorgan CCC from Saturday, April 25.
The second home fixture of the season against Worcestershire CCC sees cricket on Bank Holiday Friday (May 8) as well as that weekend.
Hassan Azad emerged as one of the best young opening batsmen in the country last summer and he will get a chance to display his talents at the Home of Cricket with the Foxes playing Middlesex CCC at Lord’s from Friday, May 22 while the final two home four-day matches are against Nottinghamshire CCC (September 8) and Derbyshire CCC (September 22).
The Vitality Blast starts earlier next season with another derby to begin the campaign, at Derbyshire Falcons on Friday, May 29 before hosting Northants Steelbacks the next day (Saturday, May 30).
There is a Friday night clash with Notts Outlaws (June 19) before Yorkshire Vikings visit the Fischer County Ground the following Thursday evening. The Foxes end the Blast group stages with home matches against Derbyshire Falcons (Saturday, July 4) and Durham Cricket (Friday, July 10).
The Royal London Cup will see Leicestershire make the trip to Taunton to play Somerset CCC (August 4) for the first time in any competition for seven years after a home opener against Surrey CCC (July 22).
Colin Ackermann, who claimed world record figures of seven for 18 in last season’s Blast, is set to spearhead Leicestershire CCC’s quest for silverware in the 50-over competition, which will be played at the same time as The Hundred.
The new and exciting 100-ball format will feature the best male and female players from around the world, and at home, with the Fischer County Ground to host the women’s match between Trent Rockets and Birmingham Phoenix on Thursday, July 30.
The Rockets will be headlined by England stars Nat Sciver and Katherine Brunt in addition to Australian recruits Sophie Molineux and Elyse Villani.
