Aadil scores another century

A number of the Leicestershire CCC squad played in Everards Leicestershire and Rutland Premier League fixtures while others visited their designated clubs as the First XI had a rare break from action on the county circuit.

Batsman Aadil Ali put in another strong performance as Kibworth recorded 19 points in a winning draw against Enderby.

Aadil, opening the batting, scored a superb 152 as Kibworth racked up a total in excess of 300 for a second Saturday in succession.

Kibworth posted 307-5 declared from 45 overs and it was a second consecutive ton for Aadil, who faced Leicestershire teammate Callum Parkinson during the game.

The slow left arm spinner recorded fine figures of 2-43 from his ten overs including the wickets of half-centurions Matt Craven and Charlie Page-Morris.

Parkinson made 14 with the willow, Shaun Wormington striking an unbeaten 102 as Enderby closed at 217-5 from 55 overs. Seamer Matt Bashford was the most successful bowler with 3-23 while Aadil claimed 1-44 from 11 overs.

Harry Dearden and Rob Sayer both made half-centuries as leaders Kegworth recorded their fifth win of the season against Barrow Town.

Overseas player Brent Williams (113) and Dearden (59) put on 133 for the second wicket as Kegworth scored 280-9 and Barrow were bowled out for 207 despite Sayer’s 53.

Foxes paceman Zak Chappell scored an unbeaten 51 and took 2-14 off five overs for Market Harborough but Leicester Ivanhoe reached their target of 173 for the loss of seven wickets.

Academy batsman/’keeper Harry Swindells, who made a fine 50 for the Second XI earlier in the week, continued his good form by scoring 67.

In other close finishes, Lutterworth recorded their second win of the season while Sileby Town also emerged victorious in a thriller against Loughborough Town.

Sileby put a steady 256-7 on the board as Luke Gale and former Foxes off-spinner Jigar Naik made scores in the sixties.

Anish Patel and Ashish Trusz posted half-centuries as Loughborough progressed to 114-1 and 243-7 at two points but there was to be a dramatic late twist.

The last two Loughborough wickets fell with the score on 255 including Kyle Saddington, who took 3-55 before smashing 48 off 30 balls to get Town to within a whisker of victory.

But Sileby won by one run for the second time this season, this one coming with two deliveries to spare. They moved to within eight points of third-placed Kibworth in the process.

Lutterworth landed a two-wicket success after Phil Hackett and Iain O’Brien led a Rothley Park recovery.

Hackett (60 not out) and former Foxes overseas bowler O’Brien (42) guided the hosts to 207-8 but although Matt Pickering (68) and Ollie Pickering (37) shared an opening partnership of 111, a clatter of wickets meant Lutts had to edge home.

Barkby kept the pressure on Kegworth in the division’s other game as they match the leaders in claiming 30 points.

Tom Flowers (77) and Ian Kirk (50) were in the runs as Barkby totalled 211, and Syston were dismissed for 156. Cameron Sharp took 4-21 while Kirk continued his fine game with a three-for and Academy bowler Harry Funnell did a great job in claiming 1-8 off seven overs.
