Abbas moves into top 20

Leicestershire CCC overseas star Muhammad Abbas has moved into the top 20 of the ICC test match bowling rankings after a man-of-the-match performance for Pakistan against England at Lord’s.

Abbas collected match figures of 8 for 64, taking a four-for in each innings, as the tourists won by nine wickets at the Home of Cricket.

It followed on from another superb performance against Ireland at Malahide, a match in which Abbas ended with a match analysis of 9 for 110.

Abbas now has an incredible test bowling average of 16.62 having picked up 40 wickets in his first seven appearances.

Leicestershire CCC Head Coach Paul Nixon said: “We were delighted for [Muhammad] Abbas, he is a great man and bowler and we were desperate for him to get on the Honours Board at Lord’s.

“It wasn’t quite to be, but it was a great performance and we were delighted for him because he’s a high-class individual and a lovely man. He has been keeping in touch with us.”

* Muhammad Abbas will return to the Foxes following international duty. Catch him throughout the summer, including in the Vitality Blast! Tickets for our opening home game against Durham Jets on Friday, July 6, cost just £10 in advance and are available HERE
