Abbas takes four against Australia

Leicestershire CCC overseas player Muhammad Abbas continued the brilliant start to his test career as Pakistan took the final ten Australia first innings wickets for just 60 runs in Dubai.

Abbas took four for 29 from 19 overs as Australia, who were 142 without loss at one stage, slipped to 202 all out in reply to Pakistan’s 482.

The seamer started the ball rolling by having Aaron Finch (62) caught at silly mid-on before off-spinner Bilal Asif, who claimed six-for on debut, took the next four wickets.

Abbas trapped Mitch Marsh leg before and also claimed the eighth and ninth wickets of the innings, having Mitchell Starc caught behind before bowling Peter Siddle.

The haul means that Abbas has now picked up 46 wickets at a brilliant average of 16.78 in his first nine matches with an innings remaining. It was his fifth four-wicket haul, and Abbas has also claimed a brace of five-fors.

Pakistan closed day three at 45 for three, therefore holding an overall lead of 325 with seven second innings wickets remaining.
