Academy Stars Flourish while U18s Reach Finals Day

Academy players selected for Midlands in Super 4s and Bunbury Competitions
Sam Wood (Super 4s) and Alex Green (Bunbury) took part in the annual Super 4s and Bunbury tournaments which took place at Loughborough University recently.
The competitions pits the countries most talented Under 18s and Under 15s respectively against one another in a regional tournament which include the North, the Midlands, South and West and London.
Both tournaments took place over 5 days - the Super 4s from 18-22 July and the Bunbury festival from 1-5 August, and featured a combination of 50 over and T20 matches.
Both Leicestershire players had a great week, Sam Wood taking a 5 wicket haul in his first outing and Alex Green putting in consistent performances throughout the week which included a vital knock lower down the order to win a game.
Leicestershire County Cricket Club’s Head of Talent Pathway Jigar Naik was also involved as the Midlands Assistant Coach working alongside Matt Wood (Nottinghamshire)
Leicestershire CCC Academy scholar Josh Hull to represent England Select XI U19s V Sri Lanka U19s
Academy Scholar Josh Hull has been selected to play in a warm-up game for England Select XI vs the Sri Lanka U19s.
The game will be played over three days at Loughborough University starting on 16 August. Sri Lanka U19s will then go onto play against England U19s over the following weeks, including a 50-over fixture at Uptonsteel County Ground on Saturday, 10 September.
Leicestershire’s Head of Talent Pathway Jigar Naik will also be Assistant Coach for the England Select XI alongside Chris Benbow (Lancashire).
U18s/Academy reach Finals Day of U18s ECB T20 Competition
Our U18s have reached Finals Day of the U18 ECB T20 competition, which takes place on 11 September at Kibworth Cricket Club.
The team topped their group, which consisted of Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Lancashire, Durham and Yorkshire.
We will be playing Sussex in the semi-final which starts at 10.30am, with the second game taking place between Wales and the winners of the playoff.
