Leicestershire County Cricket Club are delighted to announce that Colin Ackermann has extended his stay at the Fischer County Ground by a further year. The contract extension takes the batsman through until at least the end of the 2019 season.
Ackermann has an impressive first-class career record with the latest of his eleven hundreds, scored at Northamptonshire in the floodlit round of fixtures last week, taking him past the 5,000 mark.
The 26-year-old has scored 449 runs at an average of 44.90 in 13 Specsavers County Championship innings for Leicestershire, including two centuries.
Ackermann has also taken six wickets with his off-spin and although a hand injury ruled him out of the majority of the Royal London One-Day Cup, his all-round abilities will be an asset for the forthcoming NatWest T20 Blast.
Leicestershire CCC Head Coach Pierre de Bruyn said: “Colin is a fine player and has become an important part of our team, scoring two centuries as part of a good start to his Leicestershire career.
“Colin has a batting style that suits all formats and bowls good off-spin. He is also an excellent fielder and offers good leadership qualities, so we’re really pleased that he has extended his stay with us by another season."
