Adrian Weston MBE - 1935-2022

Leicestershire County Cricket Club is extremely saddened to learn of the passing of Vice President Adrian Weston MBE.

Leicestershire born and bred, Adrian chose a career path in law and studied a Masters at Queens College, Oxford. He worked at Harvey Clarke & Adams for 41 years, specialising in corporate work such as mergers and acquisitions, before retiring as Senior Partner at what became Harvey Ingram LLP.

Adrian was a longstanding member of the Committee and legal adviser to the Running Foxes for many years. He was an expert in the Club Rules, a structure and document he helped to shape over the years.

A keen sportsman, Adrian had a huge passion for hockey and was also a member of the Leicestershire Golf Club as well as being a VP at Grace Road.

Adrian had many roles in hockey including serving as Captain, Secretary and Vice President of the Leicestershire County Hockey Association. He was then elected an honorary Life Member in recognition of his services.

He was a key figure at the Midland Counties Hockey Association and the English Hockey Association having served as Chairman from 1971-77. Adrian also served as Chairman of first Leicester Sports and Recreation Advisory Council and then Leicestershire Sports and Recreation Advisory Council.

In 2015 Adrian was awarded an MBE for his outstanding services to the community and charity in Leicestershire.

As well as following his passion for law and sport, Adrian served as non-executive director of companies including Everards Brewery Ltd.

He was also heavily involved in the education sector, being a Governor of Leicester High School for Girls and former school Ratcliffe College, including a seven-year term as Chairman of Governors.

Adrian was also a member of the University Council at the University of Leicester for nine years, including some terrific work with fundraising for the David Wilson Library.

Adrian’s wife Bridget sadly passed away in 2014 and they had one son, Tom and one daughter, Alex. Our thoughts are with Adrian’s family and friends at this sad time.
