Aadil Ali was in fine form as Kibworth responded to last weekend’s defeat to Barrow Town in some style in the Leicestershire and Rutland Premier League, sponsored by Everards.
Ali picked up 2-34 from nine overs of off-spin and fellow spinners Darren Shaw (10-3-24-3) and Russell Spiers (10-6-8-1) also shone as Kibworth bowled out Thorpe Arnold for 155. The young all-rounder then recorded an unbeaten 50 as the home side won by six wickets.
Morning leaders Barrow Town slipped to third place as they suffered a nine-wicket loss at Loughborough Town. The 2014 champions rediscovered their best form to dismiss Barrow for 114 as Rob McKinley took stunning figures of 5-9 in just 3.3 overs. Anish Patel and Rishi Patel both recorded unbeaten scores in the forties to help knock the runs.
Lutterworth leapfrogged Barrow as Captain Ollie Pickering made a magnificent 105 in sharing an unbroken 140 with David Tew (53 not out) as the hosts overhauled Hinckley Town/CCA’s 184-7 for the loss of a solitary wicket. James Sykes (10-0-38-0) earlier bowled a controlled spell for Lutterworth.
Ali Azmat (62) and Charlie Dagnall (58) were again in the runs as Rothley Park landed a thrilling two-wicket win at Syston Town to become the fourth side to record a 25-point haul.
No side who batted first managed to win at the weekend but Sileby Town and Market Harborough went perilously close to collecting 30 points. Visitors Kegworth closed on 151-9 after Sileby Town put 231-9 on the board. Luke Gale’s 44 for Sileby was the highest score in the match.
Leicester Ivanhoe ended on 161-9 after Market Harborough had posted 238-6.Kevin Innes, Zain Mir and Sam Williams all made half-centuries for the home side, Steve Punchard (64) replying in kind for Ivanhoe.
