Ali helps Kibworth record eighth league win

Aadil Ali took 3-40 and scored 28 as Leicestershire and Rutland Premier League leaders Kibworth stormed to an eight-wicket win against Loughborough Town on a weekend that was affected by the weather.

Loughborough put 211 on the board but Kibworth chased it down with 16 balls to spare as Sunny Patel (101*) shared 64 with Ali for the second wicket and 141 with Pite van Biljon (57*) for the third.

It was Kibworth's eighth league win in ten matches and they are now 25 points clear of Barrow Town, who went so close to recording a victory before rain put paid to those hopes.

Barrow and Syston Town saw their game initially reduced to 42 overs per side and the match was hit by further interruptions throughout the afternoon.

Syston put 159-7 on the board after 37 overs and a delayed resumption meant Barrow only had 23 overs to get the runs.

They gave it a very good go, moving to 154-4 after 20.5 overs when more poor weather forced an abandonment, so Barrow had to be content with 17 points from a winning draw.

There were runs aplenty between Lutterworth and Market Harborough in a game reduced to 37 overs.

Captain Ollie Pickering (100) and David Tew (86) put on 190 for the second wicket as Lutterworth amassed 240-3 from 37 overs, and Harborough closed on 200-8 as Zak Chappell top-scored with 51 in this entertaining fixture.

Sileby Town had a seven-wicket win at Thorpe Arnold after dismissing the hosts for 102 thanks in large to Matt Ellis (4-10). Sileby are fourth but now sit just five points behind Barrow.

Kegworth had an impressive 30-point win against Leicester Ivanhoe as they got off the mark for the campaign in a 43-over match.

Rob Moorhouse made 81 not out as the visitors put 229-8 on the board and Ivanhoe were bowled out for 178 as Jordan Holmes claimed 3-21.

Hinckley Town/CCA were on the better end of a draw against Rothley, making 246-4 from 40 overs before restricting Rothley to 186-9.

* Newtown Linford are at home to Astwood Bank of Worcestershire in the last 16 of the National Village Cup on Sunday afternoon. The game at the picturesque venue starts at 1pm and the club is three wins away from Lord's, so would welcome any support on the day.
