Ali stars as Kibworth secure vital win

By Dominic Toner

Aadil Ali contributed with both bat (42) and ball (2-32) to steer Kibworth to victory over rivals Lutterworth and see them rise to the top of the table.

The visitors were given a good start by captain Ollie Pickering (47) and fellow opener Matt Pickering (30) and were and on course for a big total at 177-4.

But Kibworth restricted their rivals to 208 all out and secured a six-wicket victory with Ali, skipper Matt Craven (37) and Darren Shaw (35*) all batting well.

With just two games remaining in the season Kibworth have opened up a 17 point lead, so it was a big win for them.

The two teams have important league games this Saturday before meeting in the County Cup Final on Sunday at Grace Road (12 noon start)

Third placed Sileby Town maintained their position with a thrilling victory over Market Harborough.

Jigar Naik bowled his ten overs for just 21 runs as Harborough made 150-9 and Mitchell Buck hit an unbeaten 68 to guide the away side to a one-wicket win.

Elsewhere Loughborough Town scored a huge 317-6 largely due to Charlie Lowen who hit 136 and that secured a winning draw against Leicester Ivanhoe.

In response, the hosts reached 194-7 despite Rob McKinley claiming four wickets, Stephen Punchard top scoring with 70.

Fourth placed Barrow Town completed a four-wicket victory over Rothley Park with Ankesh Dansuclal (65 not out) and Ali Azmat (4-22) featuring for the home side.

Syston Town dismissed bottom side Thorpe Arnold for 122 and chased down their target comfortably with Ram Ghuman top scoring on 39 to guide them to a seven-wicket victory.

Finally Hinckley Town/CCA secured a maximum 30 points for their victory over Kegworth. After reaching 236-8 as Craig Crowe made 86, they bowled out their opponents for 178.
