The Running Foxes get their 2022 campaign underway with the visit of Worcestershire CCC to the Uptonsteel County Ground for the curtain raiser.
The first ball of the season will be bowled on Thursday, April 7, 2022 as County will look to exact revenge on the visitors following the defeat suffered in the final game of 2021 away at New Road.
This kicks off the first helping of seven LV= Insurance County Championship fixtures before a brief intermission for the T20 Vitality Blast campaign.
The first three road trips for Leicestershire Members will take see them visit Emirates Riverside (April 14-17), Lord’s (April 28-May 1) and Sophia Gardens (May 5-8) before breaking for the shortest format after the return fixture against Worcestershire CCC beginning on Thursday, May 19.
The remaining seven red-ball fixtures of the season are then broken up with the Uptonsteel County Ground hosting the relegated Nottinghamshire CCC on Sunday, June 12 “ in the middle of the Vitality Blast season.
Back-to-back four day fixtures in between the Vitality Blast and Royal London One Day Cup competitions see Leicestershire travel to the southern border for the fixture against Sussex CCC followed by a home fixture against Glamorgan CCC.
The final four fixtures of the season see the Running Foxes visit Trent Bridge (September 5-8), with a trip to the Incora County Ground (September 26-29) to round off 2022’s campaign.
Following the improvements made in red ball cricket during the 2021 campaign, the Running Foxes “ along with the addition of South Africa international Wiaan Mulder “ have their sights set on promotion into Division One.
Callum Parkinson and Lewis Hill both had stand out seasons last year, with the former claiming 50 scalps and the latter recording 944 runs, and both will be looking to continue in the same vein of form once red ball cricket resumes in April.
