The Running Foxes’ 2022 Royal London Cup campaign kickstarts with a three game road trip with a mouth-watering opening fixture away at Surrey on Tuesday, August 2, 2022.
Not forgetting the heroics of Ben Mike during the 50-over fixture at the Uptonsteel County Ground in 2021, where he took three wickets in the final over of the fixture to claim victory for the Running Foxes “ this fixture is sure to explode the Royal London Cup into life.
County then remain in the capital with a visit to Radlett Cricket Club to take on Middlesex (August 4), and then travel further south to take on Sussex Sharks away at Hove on Sunday, August 7.
Home fixtures against Somerset (August 12) and Warwickshire (August 14) follow, before heading to the South West to take on Gloucestershire at the Bristol County Ground on Wednesday, August 17.
Intriguing home fixtures against East Midlands rivals Notts Outlaws (August 20) and Durham (August 23) then conclude the group stage of the competition, with the Quarter-Finals and Semi-Finals scheduled for Friday, August 26 and Tuesday, August 30 respectively.
Leicestershire Foxes, who were led by home-grown Academy graduate Lewis Hill in last year’s edition, will be looking to continue their progress after finishing one point away from a qualification spot in 2021.
Following impressive performances from Lewis Hill, Rishi Patel, Harry Swindells and Louis Kimber with the bat, coupled with the emergence of the Running Foxes’ latest Academy graduate, Rehan Ahmed, 2022 is set up to be an exhilarating year of 50-over cricket for the Running Foxes.
Silverware is well within sight for Leicestershire in the one-day format, and this is one competition you do not want to miss out on.
