Amna & Aadil up for awards

Leicestershire CCC is delighted to announce that the club has received two nominations for the Asian Cricket Awards that will be held at the Kia Oval on Friday, September 23, Aadil Ali and Amna Rafiq.

Aadil has been shortlisted for the Professional Young Player of the Year while Amna has been put forward for the Behind the Scenes Award.

The 21-year-old Aadil is a highly talented young batsman who has also developed his bowling, impressing when he has played for the club’s First XI after coming through Leicestershire Young Cricketers and the club’s Academy.

Barnsley-born Amna has been working tirelessly within our community team to inspire young people, especially in inner city areas of Leicester, as our Community Development Officer.

A number of initiatives have been overseen by Amna since joining the club in the summer of 2015, including the popular Matchday Experience scheme at NatWest T20 Blast fixtures and the multi-faith area on matchdays at the Fischer County Ground.

She has been a tremendous influence at the club and is featuring in a fantastic article in the matchday programme for the England v Pakistan test match at Edgbaston, a written piece that can be downloaded HERE.

Amna is also featuring on BBC’s iconic Test Match Special tomorrow (Wednesday) as part of the England v Pakistan coverage.

The club wishes both Aadil and Amna the best of luck at the ceremony, which will be a great night in the capital at the end of the 2016 season.
