Annual Fireworks Evening Sets New Record

Leicester’s premier outdoor venue hosted its second annual Fireworks Evening on Friday, November 5, 2021, on a sell-out night at the Uptonsteel County Ground.

Over 4,000 people were welcomed into the ground to enjoy the spectacular Fireworks and Laser show, as well as the fairground rides that took over the entirety of the car park at Grace Road for the evening.

Refreshment stalls were available throughout the event ranging from burger vans to sweet stalls, including everything in-between such as the fireworks night staple, candy floss.

A new attendance record was set with an increase of over 30% of the attendance from 2019 - Leicestershire County Cricket Club’s Head of Marketing and Consumer Sales, Jack Bradley, commented: “It was a very special evening for the club as we held our second major fireworks evening to a sell-out crowd.

“The annual display at the Uptonsteel County Ground is one of the best in Leicestershire and we are now already planning for an even bigger and better event for 2022”.

The show was performed to the theme of Blockbuster movies including James Bond, Mission Impossible, Toy Story, Frozen and The Greatest Showman as the fireworks lit up the night sky in Leicestershire.

Following the conclusion of the fireworks display, two visitors went on to make their night even more special with a proposal taking place in the late BAF Smith’s suite.

The evening saw Ben and Kim tie the knot on the balcony of the private suite, overlooking the display, sealing what was a magical evening in Leicestershire.

The Fireworks Evening at the Uptonsteel County Ground is fast becoming a sought-after show within the Leicestershire event calendar and is an event that the Club always look forward to hosting as part of their annual non-cricketing calendar.
