Bates Signs On For More in Leicestershire

Leicestershire County Cricket Club Academy graduate Sam Bates agrees on a new deal keeping him at the club for the upcoming 2022 campaign.
Bates broke into the professional game during the 2021 campaign where he went on to make his first-class debut in the final game of the season, against Worcestershire CCC.
The wicketkeeper batsman became 495th player to represent the Running Foxes at the highest level, joining fellow Academy graduates Ben Mike and Lewis Hill in the squad for the visit to New Road.
The 22-year old featured heavily during the Second XI’s 2021 campaign, recording the fourth highest runs for Leicestershire in the Championship, with 296 at an average of 26.90 “ he also took 19 catches and recorded one stumping from behind the stumps.
Upon signing an extension at his home County, Bates said: “I’m thrilled to have extended my stay with the Foxes. I have loved this Club ever since I was a boy so it’s great to be able to continue with them.
“Last year was a big learning curve for me and my cricket, and one that I won’t forget in hurry with making my debut at the back end of the season.
“I can’t wait to get 2022 underway with this great group of lads and see what it has in store for us!"
