Ben Mike joins Bears on loan

Leicestershire CCC all-rounder Ben Mike has joined Warwickshire CCC on a short-term loan deal as the Bears have some injury problems in their seam department.

The 20-year-old all-rounder will be available for Warwickshire CCC in their next three Specsavers County Championship games at Kent CCC (starting tomorrow), Hampshire CCC (Saturday, July 6), and Essex CCC (Saturday, July 13).

The loan arrangement only covers Specsavers County Championship cricket over the next four weeks, and the Foxes can recall Mike in line with ECB regulations.

Mike has taken 25 first-class wickets at 25.16 apiece in six first-class appearances to date, including figures of nine for 94 on debut at Sussex CCC last season.

Leicestershire CCC Head Coach Paul Nixon said: “Ben has stepped up his recovery from injury recently, and we have no problem with him going to get some first team cricket with Warwickshire. I know Farby [Warwickshire CCC Sport Director Paul Farbrace] well and he explained their injury situation to me.

“Our seam attack has performed well this year, Tom Taylor is nearly back after injury, and Gavin Griffiths is also pushing hard for selection. We have good depth and think it will be positive for Ben to go and experience some tough first division cricket.”
