Bollywood hit movie coming to the Uptonsteel County Ground

The award winning Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela will be screening under the stars at the Uptonsteel County Ground at 7pm, Friday, August 20, 2021 as part of our 2021 outdoor cinema weekend.
The film presents a modern-day Bollywood adaptation of Romeo and Juliet. In a Gujarati village, known for its lawlessness, two rival clans are embattled in violent conflict. The son of the Rajadi leader, Ram is determined to find an end to the conflict but when he falls in love with Leela, a member of the Sanera clan, he unwittingly reinvigorates the conflict.
Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela received eight nominations at the Filmfare Awards, winning three including Best Actress for Padukone. At the International Indian Film Academy Awards, it received nine nominations, including for Best Film, and won two.
Leicestershire County Cricket Club Event Manager Jack Bradley said: “We are delighted to be screening such a popular Bollywood hit movie at the Uptonsteel County Ground.
"The film adds to our previously announced Toy Story & Mamma Mia! movie screenings taking place that weekend on Saturday, August 21, and we are pleased to be able to be showing a variation of movies for all ages and communities to come and enjoy the unique outdoor cinema experience at the Uptonsteel County Ground.â€
We will be offering traditional Asian street-food and a bar will be in operation. You are also welcome to bring your own picnic and a blanket or deck chairs as you sit back and relax on the unique cricket outfield as the film is shown on the big screen.
Gates will open 90 minutes prior to the film starting.
