Captains ready for T20 double header

This Friday sees a big double header of T20 cricket action taking place at Grace Road, the home of Leicestershire County Cricket Club (LCCC), and students can get in for just £5.
The first game sees the De Montfort University Cricket team take on city rivals the University of Leicester (UoL) in their 20 overs Varsity match (12.30pm)
Three times T20 champions Leicestershire Foxes then take on Derbyshire Falcons in their first home game of this year’s NatWest Blast competition.
Foxes captain Mark Cosgrove said: “Having the Varsity game before our NatWest T20 Blast opener here is a fantastic idea and I know the university cricketers will enjoy playing at Grace Road.
“It would then be great if all of the students stay to cheer us on against the Falcons because it will be a fun evening with plenty of food, drink and entertainment on offer as well as the cricket. Hopefully De Montfort University and the Foxes can make it a big double!
“We had a close game at Lancashire Lightning last Friday night and now have a big local derby to look forward to. We want to play exciting cricket in the NatWest T20 Blast and have already had record advanced sales, so it promises to be a good day.”
The DMU Cricket team have already enjoyed some Varsity success this year, winning their indoors game against UoL, and they will hope for further joy on the grand stage at Grace Road in a fixture that they have dominated for almost a decade.
James Moy, DMU Cricket captain, said: “Hopefully there should be a good few people down, the rugby and football teams have said they’ll be going so it should be a really good atmosphere.”
James, a middle order batsmen and spin bowler, is optimistic about his side’s chances. “I’m expecting it to be a close game,” he said. “We’ve won our last nine against them and we’re also a league above so we’ll be seen as favourites but they’ll be no pushovers.
“We’re always confident considering we seem to come out on top every year but we’ll have to work hard. If we play our best we’re capable of winning.”

Advance ticket sales, which now total more than 4,000, can also be brought before 5pm tomorrow night for £10 adults, £1 under 16s and £20 for a family ticket of two adults and three under 16s.
