Leicestershire CCC Club Captain Michael Carberry is pleased with how pre-season preparations have gone.
The Foxes had a training camp in Desert Springs, Spain, and recently played Nottinghamshire CCC in a two-day friendly, as well as Yorkshire CCC and Loughborough MCCU as they get ready for the start of the 2018 season.
Carberry said: “It’s been a positive few weeks for the guys; six different batsmen have scored half-centuries in what haven’t always been easy conditions.
“We’ve faced some high quality bowling in every game, and testing ourselves against Division One counties and a strong university side is a great measure to see where we are at as a group.
"The groundstaff have done an amazing job to get us out on the field for five days and those overs that we have got under our belts will be highly valuable."
With the unseasonal cold weather set to be replaced by warm sunshine, Carberry thanked all of the Leicestershire CCC fans who came to the ground during pre-season.
He said: “The amount of supporters who have come down in the cold weather is incredible and shows just how loyal the fans are here. I know it has not been the easiest conditions to watch cricket in and appreciate everybody's support.
“I’d like to personally thank everybody that has joined as a Member for 2018 and it would be brilliant to see past Members return to the club too.
“The new coaching setup is high-class, we have a good squad, and I am confident that we will bring some good times back to the Fischer County Ground.”
