#CenturyADay review

In October, Leicestershire County Cricket Club re-launched the LCCC Foundation to raise awareness of the Club’s charity arm and begin a fundraising initiative titled ‘Century A Day’.

The #CenturyADay encouraged participants to walk, run or cycle the equivalent distance of scoring a century, everyday throughout November to raise funds for the Foundation.

There was a fantastic response to the launch with over 50 participants signing up to the challenge.

As the #CenturyADay concluded earlier in the week, Leicestershire CEO, Sean Jarvis has provided a summary below to thank those who completed the challenge.

When we re-launched the Leicestershire County Cricket Club Foundation in October, we did so on the back of an idea to raise money for four wonderful causes via various fundraising schemes. All funds raised during the fundraising initiatives are split evenly to Alex’s Wish, Healing Little Hearts, the LCCC Academy and cricketing clubs within the county.

We at LCCC have been amazed to see the amount of people take part in the #CenturyADay challenge, with 51 participants signing up to our Strava club where they could track their progress, and compete against everybody else involved.

There was a total of 579 activities completed up and down the country, from Newcastle to Leicestershire and everywhere in-between. The 579 activities completed equates to a total of 357 total hours dedicated to the #CenturyADay challenge.

This is a tremendous effort, throughout November, especially as the cold and dark nights drew in!

Due to technical issues, we have struggled to finalise the Foundation's Just Giving page, and we are working hard behind the scenes to get this set-up as soon as we can. In the meantime, participants can transfer donated funds using the details below.

I’d like to thank everyone who participated, showed their support and provided encouragement throughout the initiative. We’re already working on the next challenge so watch this space and get involved!

If you would like to make a donation to the LCCC Foundation, or have monies raised from the #CenturyADay challenge, please use the bank details below to make a transfer into the Foundation's bank account.
