Leicestershire CCC is delighted to announce that Zak Chappell has committed his future to the club until at least the end of the 2017 season.
The talented 19-year-old is a key part of the club’s plans and Chappell has signed an extension that keeps him at the Fischer County Ground, Grace Road until at least the end of the 2017 season.
Chappell showed his ability during a memorable first-class debut for Leicestershire in the final County Championship match of the 2015 season at Derbyshire.
Batting at number ten, Chappell went extremely close to making a century. He scored 96 as part of late order partnerships with Rob Taylor and Ollie Freckingham and also made an impact with the ball, dismissing opener Ben Slater in both innings.
The teenager also shone on his List A debut at Worcestershire and Elite Performance Director Andrew McDonald is pleased to have secured his signature.
He said: “Zak is a highly talented young cricketer who showed what he was all about during the game at Derbyshire last season. He played beautifully with the bat and we were all sitting on the balcony willing him on to make a hundred.
“Zak then showed real promise with the ball too and we are encouraged by his progress. Zak has worked extremely hard on his game over the winter and we are looking forward to seeing him continue his development over the next two seasons."
