Club AGM 2015

Leicestershire CCC held their 2015 Annual General Meeting in the Charles Palmer Suite last night. It was well attended and the club would like to thank everybody for coming.

Mr Robin Matthews was re-elected to the Board of Directors while Mr John Day, who was previously a Board Adviser, joined the Board of Directors. Chairman Paul Haywood paid tribute to Mr Philip Bland for his time on the Board of Directors and for his support of the club over the years.

The votes were as follows:

Mr John Day 300

Mr Robin Matthews 311

Mr Neil Davidson 43

Mr Stewart Walker 93

Club President David Wilson CBE opened the meeting and expressed his thanks for donations to the Leicestershire Young Cricketers Educational Trust (LYCET), which already stands at £60,000 this year. Mr Wilson CBE thanked Chief Executive Wasim Khan MBE for his help in sourcing £30,000 of those donations.

Paul outlined the changes that had been made at the club over the winter and welcomed Head Coach Andrew McDonald, who was in the audience. Paul explained that plans for the apartment project have been put on hold while the club conducts a full review of facilities at Grace Road.

Paul said that Wasim has made it clear what has to change at the club and that he has the 100% support of the Board of Directors.

Wasim then described his ambitious vision for the future; he wants the club to be the leading non test match county within the next five years. Wasim also said that the support of members is critical and is looking into additional benefits as he wants members to feel valued.

Wasim explained that Leicestershire and Rutland Cricket is committed to engaging with the community and he wants to move the club forward in every way. He said that a number of new revenue streams will be explored to make sure that the club is sustainable in the future.

Wasim said that the team will be a lot more competitive this year and welcomed Club Captain Mark Cosgrove, who arrived in the UK yesterday afternoon.

A number of questions from the audience were answered and the AGM finished shortly before 7.50pm.
