Following a fantastic debut season, Leicestershire County Cricket Club would like to take this opportunity to thank Marcus Harris for his contribution to the team.
Harris has played his last match in the 2021 season as he is flying back to Australia slightly earlier than planned due to continued travel and logistical challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The club’s overseas player made a terrific contribution this season totalling 887 runs across the LV=County Championship and Royal London Cup campaign.
Harris registered four centuries in total, including his maiden List A hundred, and also scored a ton in his only Leicestershire Second XI appearance of the campaign.
Reflecting on his time at the club, Harris said: “I’ve had a fantastic time at Leicestershire, everyone has been so welcoming and I’ve bonded well with the boys in the squad.
“I’d like to thank Paul Nixon and the coaches for their support, and I wish the team the best of luck for the remaining fixtures.â€
Head Coach Paul Nixon said: “Harry [Marcus Harris] has been a wonderful addition to the changing room, not only with his sheer weight of runs and level of performance, but also his support to colleagues.
“A lot of our batsmen have learnt a lot from the way Harry goes about his business, not only in the middle but also the countless hours in the nets and gym, and that’s what having a top overseas pro is all about.
“We’ve been blessed with three excellent overseas pros this year in Harry [Marcus Harris], Ingo [Josh Inglis] and Nav [Naveenulhaq Murid], who finished as the leading competition run-scorer and wicket-taker in the Blast respectively. We wish all three the very best of luck in the next stage of their cricketing journeys.â€
