Cosgrove and McKay into Final

Leicestershire duo Mark Cosgrove and Clint McKay spent plenty of time on the same team last year – but they will now go head to head in the 2015-16 Sheffield Shield Final.

Cosgrove’s South Australia have home advantage in the five-day showpiece game after an impressive innings win against Tasmania in the final game was coupled with Victoria’s unlikely draw against New South Wales.

At 7-3 and 56-5 with Australia spinner Nathan Lyon playing an increasingly prominent role, New South Wales looked to be in command but Victoria lost only two wickets in the final 74 overs of the match.

Victoria’s hero was Cameron White, who scored a vital unbeaten 97 off 253 deliveries to secure their place in the final.

Cosgrove has played all ten games for South Australia this season and has recorded four half-centuries as part of a 507-run haul at the top of the order.

McKay has played in three first-class matches for Victoria and took three wickets while maintaining an impressive economy rate. The seamer is looking for a personal double as he won the KFC Big Bash with Sydney Thunder, ending as the leading wicket-taker in the process.

It is also South Australis’s second final of the summer and they will be hoping for a winning conclusion this time around. Ed Cowan and Steve Smith guided New South Wales to a nine-wicket win in the Matador BBQ One-Day Cup with unbeaten scores in the 80s.
