Cosgrove arrives in Leicester

Leicestershire CCC Head Coach Andrew McDonald said that Club Captain Mark Cosgrove could play his first game at Grace Road tomorrow.

Cosgrove arrived at Grace Road this afternoon and might make his debut in the two-day intra-squad game, which is due to get underway at 11am depending on the weather.

McDonald said: ÔÇ£Mark flew in today so weÔÇÖll see how he is feeling in the morning but the plan is for him to have a bat tomorrow and to introduce himself to the lads.ÔÇØ

McDonald himself only arrived in the country recently but has been enjoying getting his teeth stuck into the new job. ÔÇ£ItÔÇÖs been great so far,ÔÇØ he said. ÔÇ£I flew in on Sunday evening and went straight to Loughborough on Monday for the practice game against Loughborough University.ÔÇØ

ÔÇ£IÔÇÖm pretty impressed by the quality of players weÔÇÖve got and weÔÇÖre just putting in the final preparations for the first game against Glamorgan at home, which we canÔÇÖt wait to come around.

ÔÇ£I really need to get to know the players very quickly and thatÔÇÖs the whole reason behind the intra-squad game, to give everybody access.

ÔÇ£I can have a look at the players and they can get a feel of what I expect of them. They can also show off their skills and vie for selection for that first game, which is coming around very quickly.ÔÇØ ┬á
