Dazzling June for our Women and Girls Foxes

As we come to the end of Women’s Big Cricket Month, the club has provided a round-up as to what the Women and Girls teams have been getting up to across June.

Women’s Team

The conclusion of the Women’s season has already occurred; however, players have been in action for their clubs, competing in the East Midlands Women’s League.

Sophie Bennett scored a quick-fire 92 runs for Rothley against Burton Latimer & Una Paramjothy scored 50 runs against Welbeck.

Our opening bowler, Isabelle Hudson, sits 4th overall in the League’s wicket table, with a best of 5/6, closely followed by Aimee Colquhoun, whose best figures are 5/37.

Head Coach, Stephen Franklin, will be looking to begin training sessions again, whilst also looking for opportunities for intra-squad matches in July.

U18s

The U18s played two matches in June, with a win against Lincolnshire & a narrow defeat by Nottinghamshire.

Three players, Sophie Bennett, Kaushicaa Vaseeharan & Els Marson, put in good performances with the bat against Lincolnshire.

Charley Dickerson also put in an impressive bowling display with 3/13 from her 7 overs.

D’Nica “Dinky” Roff made an impressive half-century & achieved 3/29 from 8 overs against Nottinghamshire.

The U18s team are next in action on 20, July against Derbyshire.

U15s

The U15’s team were looking to capitalise on a resounding win against Derbyshire, in which Prisha Thandawala scored a magnificent century when they faced Nottinghamshire. However, the British weather curtailed that and the match was abandoned without a ball bowled.

The U15s team are next in action against Derbyshire on the 13th July.

The U15 Development Team overcame a defeat to Derbyshire’s U15 Development Team in their first T20, to win by 18 runs in the second T20 match that day.

Reanna Patel scored 30 runs in the first match and only conceded two runs from her two overs in the second match.

The U13s player, Isla Williamson, scored 33 from 35 balls to help the team post 91 in the second game and to confirm the victory.

U13s

June was a busy month for our U13s with six games played, of which the team won three and lost three.

Isla Williamson was in the thick of the action once more, with 4/14.

Flora Davies scored an impressive 46* in just 41 balls during the same match. Davies was assisted by Sophie Stuart-Jones, which saw the team home to an 8 wicket win.

Williamson & Davies were at it again in the Northamptonshire match on 20th June. The pair bowled during the first few overs to lead the attack and together they took 5 wickets for just 23 runs collectively, with Davies finishing with 3/8 from 4.2 overs.

U11s

It was a quieter month for the U11s with just one game played in the defeat to Northamptonshire.

July will be a busier month, with 4 matches, starting with an Intra-Squad warm-up match on Sunday 4th July at Earl Shilton CC, which will be a great opportunity for our coaches to spend some time in the middle with the girls, to help them develop their skills.

With 18 games coming up across all age groups, July is going to be a busy month for the girls and coaches, so fingers crossed the British weather will be kind to us.
