Delport rejoins Foxes

Leicestershire CCC is pleased to announce that Cameron Delport will rejoin the club for white ball cricket in the 2017 season.

The big-hitting left-handed batsman enjoyed success in both the NatWest T20 Blast and Royal London One-Day Cup for the Foxes in 2016.

He scored 178 runs at an average of 29.66 in NatWest T20 Blast including a blistering best of 68 off 36 balls against Lancashire Lightning at the Fischer County Ground.

Delport went on to play a vital role in the Royal London One-Day Cup victory against Notts Outlaws, scoring 46 and then taking 2-43 from ten overs, including bowling the last six balls of a tight game.

Overall, Delport scored 71 runs in two RLODC innings at 35.50 and also took four wickets, as he did in NatWest T20 Blast. The 27-year-old has a remarkably similar career record in white ball cricket, scoring 2,203 runs in each format at a healthy strike rate.

Leicestershire CCC Chief Executive Wasim Khan MBE said: “Cameron made a big impact when joining us this year and we’re really pleased that he will be coming back to play for us in 2016.

“It is important to strengthen the squad with white ball cricket being played in blocks in 2017 and we’re sure that Cameron will make a significant contribution again.”
