Leicestershire CCC's pre-season friendly at Derbyshire CCC, scheduled to start next Tuesday (March 29) at The 3aaa County Ground, has been cancelled.
This is due to the ongoing development work around the 3aaa County Ground which is part of phase two of the club’s overall ground development project.
Significant work is due to take place next week to ensure the ground and playing surface is ready for the start of the new season.
The Falcons Stand is scheduled to be relocated to the City End of the ground, while the installation of cable ducting for the new PA system and internet cabling around the perimeter of the outfield will be complete.
Other work around the ground includes the continued work on the new £2million Media Centre complex, expanding the Tea Room, installing new fencing and entrance gates and creating a new purpose-designed Club Shop and Bookshop.
Attempts were made to switch the fixture to the Fischer County Ground, Grace Road but due to our own ground development commitments, this was not possible.
Leicestershire CCC fully understands that the work is essential for Derbyshire CCC and wishes the club well with the ongoing development work.
