Evans makes ton for Ivanhoe

Round 12 of fixtures saw some exciting games in the Everards Leicestershire and Rutland Premier League. Leicestershire batsman Sam Evans scored his first league hundred of the season, finishing 107* to see his side to a comprehensive eight-wicket victory over Kegworth.

Kegworth lost the toss and were inserted; they reached a respectable 248-6 from their 50 overs. Captain Brent Williams top scored with 67 and he was supported by Danny Murty 42. Harry Dearden scored 20 batting at three for Kegworth. For Ivanhoe, Josh Blunt and Jake Beaumont each took three wickets for their side.

In reply Ivanhoe got off to a steady start, but the key partnership was between Evans and Peter Dickson, both remained not out with Evans finishing 107* and Dickson 102* seeing their side to a comfortable win with eight balls to spare.

Enderby secured their first victory of the season over Barkby United. Barkby won the toss and elected to bat, this looked a good decision with Enderby 127 all out. Shaun Wormington top-scored for Enderby with 56 including seven fours and two sixes.

The second top scorer for Barkby was extras, something that would end up costing Barkby. In response Barkby were then bowled out for 74, Chris Conway was chief destroyer for Enderby bowling 10-3-33-5.

Market Harborough scored 192-9 against Kibworth, Max Levine making an innings-high 55. Kibworth could only muster up 129 in their innings with Laurence Perry taking four wickets and Jack O’Callaghan finishing with impressive figures of 9-4-11-3.

Rothley Park got back to winning ways against Loughborough Town after their defeat last week. Rothley batted first and reached 219 all out. Three batsmen made forties for Rothley, Phil DeFreitas 45, Saif Kazim 41 and Richard Williams 40. For Loughborough, Nil Patel took four wickets from his nine-over spell. 

Loughborough were bowled out for 178 with Kyle Saddington’s 62 not out the bright spark in their innings. Luke Welch took three wickets for Rothley, as did Nitish Kumar, whose final figures read 8.5-2-16-3.

League leaders Sileby registered their seventh win of the season against Barrow Town. Sileby won the toss and elected to bowl and this decision was vindicated when Barrow were bowled out for 188. 

Neil Pullen and Umar Afzal both took four wickets for Sileby. Jake Gillet was then the glue in Sileby’s innings; the number three scored 82 not out off 125 balls, hitting 14 fours in his innings. Jigar Naik’s fine season continued as he scored 65 from 66 balls including eight fours and a maximum. Naik departed just before Sileby got over the line but his side won by seven wickets.

The final game of the division was between Lutterworth and Syston. Lutterworth batted first and made 185-5 from their 50 overs, Charlie Hack scoring 53. Syston chased down the total with ease losing just two wickets. Former Leicestershire Academy duo Charles Wootton (92*) and Ram Ghuman (71*) saw their side home.
