Evans went on to take four first-class wickets on debut at the Fischer County Ground.

Dave Whitmore, Head of EPP & Under 12-14 Cricket at LCCC said: “It was great to see so many of our young players and parents coming together to celebrate the success of the 2019 season.

“As a club, it is really exciting to see that we have a crop of young players with plenty of potential coming through our pathway. The achievements of Alex Evans, who bowled superbly all year and fully deserved his First Team debut at the end of the season, highlight what is possible for the rest of the players in our system.

“I would just like to thank everyone who supported us throughout the season, including all of our coaching staff, the staff at Ratcliffe College and Uppingham School, the local clubs who allowed us to use their grounds, as well as all of the people who umpired and scored our fixtures.”

Leicestershire CCC Head Coach Paul Nixon added: “Tonight was all about celebrating the achievements of Leicestershire’s youngsters, and it is great to see so many of them doing so well.

“It is clear that each age group has players performing at a high level, which is highlighted by the under 17s’ impressive season.

“Last season saw a product of the Academy earn their debut for the Foxes, and we want to make Alex [Evans] a prime example of what can happen through hard work and determination.

“I would like to thank the staff here at the club who work tirelessly with the age groups as well as everybody else who supported us throughout the season.”
