Evison Links Up With Running Foxes

Leicestershire County Cricket Club can announce the signing of all-rounder Joey Evison on a six-week loan from Nottinghamshire CCC.

The 20-year-old will be in contention for his LCCC debut after the Running Foxes’ Vitality Blast fixture against parent club Notts at Trent Bridge on Tuesday.

Evison will be eligible for the remainder of the Vitality Blast, the four-day India tour match starting on Thursday, as well as the two LV= Insurance County Championship fixtures against Sussex and Glamorgan next month.

Commenting after signing for the Club, Evison said: “I am very grateful to Leicestershire for giving me the opportunity to express myself as a player and continue my development.
“I am really looking forward to working with the coaches here and am excited to get going.”

The former England Under 19 international holds a healthy first-class batting average of 32.75, and arrives having registered his maiden career century, a knock of 109 not out, in Nottinghamshire’s County Championship opener at Sussex in April.

Evison possesses admirable white-ball batting pedigree too. He smashed an 18-ball fifty for England U19s against Sri Lanka in December 2019, equaling Rishabh Pant’s record, while he averages 24 striking at 133.33 in List A cricket for the Outlaws.

The all-rounder will also bolster the bowling ranks. The right-arm seamer has 21 first-class wickets to his name at an impressive return of 22.09, recording career-best bowling figures of 5 for 21 against Durham last summer.

Speaking about Evison’s arrival, LCCC Director of Cricket, Claude Henderson, said: “We are very excited that Joey has decided to join us over the next month.

“We are really pleased we can offer him the opportunity to play first team cricket and we look forward to seeing what he can contribute to the side.”

Evison will wear the number 9 shirt for the Running Foxes.
