Will Fazakerley put in a fine all-round performance for Barkby United on Saturday but his side fell to a six-wicket Everards Leicestershire and Rutland Premier Division defeat against Rothley Park.

Barkby batted first and each member of the top three raised their bat. Fazakerley (50) opened the batting with Adam Stapleford-Jones, who scored 59, and number three David Tew posted 51. Barkby ended up with a competitive 263-9, Adam Hackett taking 4-33 off nine overs for Rothley.

Irfan Karim, opening the batting, dropped anchor for Rothley scoring an unbeaten 84 from 133 balls (7x4, 1x6). Hamzah Khan then added impetus to the run chase hitting 89 from 71 balls (9x4, 5x6). Fazakerley also shone with the ball for Barkby, conceding just 40 runs and taking one wicket from his full 10-over allocation.

Sileby and Syston’s game contained just 244 runs and saw 20 wickets lost on Saturday. Leaders Sileby batted first and reached 185 before being bowled out. George Corbett opened the bowling for Syston and took three wickets from his ten overs. He was ably supported by Joseph Storer who bowled 9.4-2-31-3.

Ryan Dawson was in inspired form for Sileby in taking 5-25. Syston wicket-keeper Charles Wootton top-scored for his side with 36 but they were bowled out for just 59, Jigar Naik continuing his fine form with figures of 5.4-3-4-3.

Barrow Town were comprehensive winners over an Enderby side that couldn’t follow up their victory last weekend. Barrow batted first and racked up a huge score of 352-5. Opener Jack Nightingale set a platform for Barrow with 75 and Rishi Patel, batting at three, scored 81.

Barrow captain Tim Taylor chipped in with 67 not out but the star batting performance came from Sardeep Salgotra who hit a 44-ball 88 to see his side to a massive score. In reply Enderby reached 111 before being bowled out with Stansha Galloway taking three wickets and Patel following up his 81 by taking three for 13.

There was another low scoring game between Kegworth and Lutterworth. Kegworth won the toss and elected to bat - however they were bowled out for 122. Alex Fletcher top scored for Kegworth with 38, while for Lutterworth George Terry had impressive figures of 10-3-40-3 and Nathan Welham bowled extremely economically, finishing with figures of 10-5-15-3.

Lutterworth were then bowled out for 88. Ziab Khan was the main bowler to do damage for Kegworth - his figures read 10-4-15-4 - and George Scottorn took three wickets from his 10 overs. Leicestershire opener Harry Dearden pitched in with a couple of wickets as well.

Loughborough Town got back to winning ways as they beat Market Harborough. Loughborough batted first and were bowled out for 213, Ashish Trusz top scored with 58. For Market Harborough Laurence Perry took a five-for to take him to 29 wickets for the season.

However, his side suffered a collapse with the bat. James Rishton took four wickets, including the top three of the Market Harborough batting line-up. Nil Patel and Kyle Saddington took two apiece for Loughborough.

There was one draw in the league this weekend between second-placed Kibworth and Leicester Ivanhoe. Kibworth batted first and reached 258-5. Pite van Biljon scored his third century of the season and Sundeep Patel scored 57. James Graham took three wickets for Ivanhoe.

In reply, Ivanhoe’s innings never really got going. Young Leicestershire opener Sam Evans scored 26 and Harry Swindells made 31 but their side finished their 50 overs at 179-6, giving Kibworth a winning draw.
