Leicestershire were delighted to welcome back a host of familiar faces as part of the club's Former Players Day on Sunday.
Chairman Paul Haywood and Board Director Robin Matthews welcomed back our former players on the third day of the Specsavers County Championship fixture against Sussex, including one of the club's greatest captains, Ray Illingworth.
They were joined by Peter Booth, John Carter, Russell Cobb, Bernie Cromack, John Harrop, Geoff Hickinbottom, George Knew, Don Munden, Rod Pratt, Terry Spencer and John Steele.
The day was fittingly held in the Illingworth Suite, where many memories and stories were shared as Leicestershire and Sussex continued their absorbing encounter.
There were also some former Foxes on the ground in other capacities. Former Leicestershire player and Head Coach Tim Boon is officiating in the current match in his new role as an ECB Liaison Officer, and we thank Tim for taking time out of his busy schedule to be in the photograph.
Sussex duo Luke Wright and Michael Burgess, who were in the field for the majority of Sunday’s play, also used to play for Leicestershire.
We thank our former players and their families for making the event a huge success and hope that they enjoyed the day with us.
Gary Shepherd, who played for Leicestershire Second XI, is also pictured. Gary was a guest of George Knew on the day. Geoff Hickinbottom was present but is not in the picture.
