Today marks our Vitality Blast ticket launch ahead of the 2018 season - recap our six best moments from 2017 below and HERE through video!
1. Notts Outlaws v Foxes
Trent Bridge is relatively close to the Fischer County Ground but you would have to go a very long way to see a better T20 Blast game than this.
The Foxes who needed to win, posted in excess of 200 thanks to Cameron Delport’s brilliant 109 not out, and looked to have the Outlaws in check.
Dan Christian played a sublime innings but Mat Pillans’ nerveless last over – defending just eight runs – ensured the Foxes secured their place in the quarter-finals in the most dramatic of fashion.
2. Lancashire Lightning v Foxes
The Foxes started as they finished in the group stages of T20 Blast, winning on the last ball in a game where fortunes fluctuated.
Boosted by the appearance of big-hitting England duo Liam Livingstone and Jos Buttler, Lightning raced to 100 at the halfway point.
Disciplined bowling ultimately restricted the hosts to 173 for 9 and Ackermann’s nerveless knock saw the Foxes home after Lightning had threatened a late rally.
The match ended in fitting style; Ackermann driving a six over extra cover with two runs needed off the last ball.
3. Foxes v Yorkshire Vikings
An afternoon where the cricketing gods smiled; good weather at the weekend and a terrific performance against a star-studded Yorkshire line-up.
Aadil Ali’s off-spin was utilised for the first time in the competition to hugely economic effect at the start of the Vikings’ innings.
Luke Ronchi was a shrewd signing for the Foxes and his breathtaking half-century, including an audacious uppercut that went for six, set up the chase.
As was so often the case in close games, Ackermann and Pillans were at the crease at the key moment to steer the ship home.
4. Foxes v Derbyshire Falcons
The pressure was on both teams in the penultimate group match but the Foxes arguably needed to win more than their East Midlands rivals, given one win from the final two matches would see Derbyshire through.
Derbyshire looked to be under par despite a fine unbeaten 72 from Matt Critchley and so it proved, ultimately, as Mark Cosgrove steered the Foxes home.
However, it wasn’t all plain sailing for the Foxes, with Derbyshire’s spinners turning it into an entertaining and tense chase.
5. Northants Steelbacks v Foxes
This was Leicestershire’s most complete performance of the campaign with a well-judged batting effort followed by a clinical bowling and fielding display.
Ronchi and Cosgrove led the way with the bat, with the Foxes pressing hard on the accelerator in the middle period to ensure Northants’ renowned death bowlers were trying to claw things back rather than keep control.
Parkinson picked up the key wicket of Richard Levi and although the Steelbacks tried to keep up with the rate, Delport proved a thorn in their side and the chase fell away dramatically.
6. Birmingham Bears v Foxes
This game provided a reminder of some of Leicestershire’s glory years in the competition, coming out on top in a low-scoring thriller.
Luke Ronchi played well up front but the Foxes were restricted to 147 for 9 as the Bears took the pace off to positive effect.
Leicestershire also employed that tactic with Callum Parkinson, Ackermann and Delport leading the squeeze and picked up the two points despite a late onslaught from Colin de Grandhomme.
