REPORT | Day Two of the Durham game in the third round of the 2020 Bob Willis Trophy campaign at the Fischer County Ground began as the first finished, with dark clouds and drizzle.

There had also been some heavier rain earlier in the morning, resulting in no play being possible during the morning session.

An early lunch was taken at 12:15pm with the umpires scheduling an inspection at 12:30pm with a view of beginning play after lunch. The match began at 12:55pm but there was another brief spell of rain resulting in a stop-start day.

Durham resumed their first innings on 176-3 with Alex Lees and Gareth Harte in the middle. Tom Taylor made quick work of taking Leicestershire’s fourth wicket, some late swing finding the outside edge of Lees.

Wicket-keeper Harry Swindells completed the dismissal as the opening batsman departed for a hard-fought 64.

Burnham and Harte were settling in the middle, forming a partnership of 43 runs before play was delayed due to bad light. Burnham, hit six boundaries, five sweetly struck through the off-side, in going to 31.

An early tea was taken at 3:05pm with Durham at 224/4.

Play resumed at 4:15pm and the Foxes exploded out of the box taking two quick wickets of Burnham and Harte. The first came off the bowling of Davis where Burnham edged to captain Colin Ackermann at second slip.

Griffiths, who has found swing throughout the game, then took the edge of Harte with Swindells taking a neat diving catch in front of Hassan Azad at first slip to dismiss Harte for 17 runs.

The clouds had threatened throughout and a thunderstorm put paid to proceedings with Durham closing at 227 for six.
