Leicestershire County Cricket Club are delighted to announce that the loan of Surrey quick bowler Mat Pillans has been extended by a further month.
Pillans will now be available for the entire NatWest T20 Blast group stages as well as the Specsavers County Championship fixture against Durham.
The 25-year-old has made a huge impact in both Specsavers County Championship and NatWest T20 Blast while with the Foxes.
Pillans has bowled 16 fast and accurate overs in the Blast with his 1 for 23 at Birmingham Bears proving a match-winning contribution following two outstanding overs at the death.
He also averages 44 for the Foxes with the bat in the shortest format of the game, including a score of 14 at Lancashire Lightning that helped the team towards the finishing line, and two useful contributions of 15 not out apiece at Birmingham and Durham.
The paceman has also taken nine wickets at 31.77 in the Specsavers County Championship and made a score of 56 that got the team agonisingly close to pulling off a record chase at Northamptonshire.
The addition of Pillans to the Leicestershire squad has been a valuable one, particularly given that all-rounders Ben Raine and Zak Chappell continue to be ruled out through injury.
Leicestershire CCC Head Coach Pierre de Bruyn said: "Mathew has been a great addition for us, he has been very consistent with both bat and ball in both forms of cricket.
"I am delighted that Mathew is staying with us for a busy and exciting part of the season. We’d like to again thank Surrey for their help in allowing us to extend the loan agreement."
