Name: Elaine Pickering
Current Role: Academy and Pathway Admin Assistant (2 days per week)
Department: Cricket
Years at Leicestershire: 19 (with a one-year gap).  Started at the Club in 2001 as the Cricket Secretary initially then the role of PA to the Chief Executive was incorporated into my job.
I left in 2014 for one year and then came back to be the Indoor School Co-ordinator and Academy/Pathway Administrator.
2 years ago, I reduced my days down to 2 per week and gave up the Indoor School Co-ordinator part of my role as I wanted to concentrate on being a Granny!

What is a fun fact about you?  I am an identical twin

What is your favourite food? Curry, my favourite would have to be a Rogan Josh.
If you could travel anywhere in the world [before COVID-19], where would you go? Caribbean to watch cricket

Summarise Leicestershire CCC in three words: On The Up!
Summarise your role in 50 words: To provide admin support to the pathway coaches in the organisation and smooth running of the pathway programme. I link with the ECB and help to organise fixtures, venues and monitor finances.
What are your current top priorities in your role?

- Link between the pathway players/families and Leicestershire
- Assisting the return to training/fixtures now we have the go ahead.

Before COVID-19, what does your matchday routine involve? I don’t have to work at matches in my current role so I sit in the crowd and watch! I also bake for the Friends of Grace Road Café.
What is your favourite memory from on the pitch? 2011 T20 Finals Day – Will Jefferson hitting the 6 in the Semi-Final Superover to get us into the Final. Also, Matthew Boyce taking 4 catches in the Final
What is your favourite memory off the pitch?  Hoggy Hugs (hugs from Matthew Hoggard!)
Where do you see Leicestershire CCC in the next 12 months? Hopefully in a much better place financially and on the pitch
Who is your Leicestershire Foxes favourite player? Past or present  Paul Nixon – I just love his energy and positivity!
Who are you most looking forward to watching on the pitch this season? Lewis Hill – As he is our local Lutterworth CC Boy (My Club)

 

A bit more about you

What is your favourite holiday destination? At home or abroad? Greece
Apart from cricket, do you watch any other sports? Rugby – I pop down to Welford Road when I can.
If you could invite any 3 celebrities to dinner who would it be and why? Aggers and Boycott – I love listening to them on Test Match Special. Plus Ian Botham to make it a cricket table!
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time? Running, keeping fit, cooking and spending time with family

 

The impact of COVID-19

How has the delay to the season impacted your role? Massively. My role is all about getting the juniors playing cricket.
How has the lockdown impacted your role? I have been working from home and it was very quiet until we got the go ahead to start up again – then it suddenly got very busy!
What have you been up to during the lockdown? Lots of running, walking, cleaning, gardening and baking!  In spite of the baking I have lost some weight!
Cricket is back on now, describe how you feel in 3 words: Happy. Excited. Optimistic.
