REPORT | Day three got underway on time at the Fischer County Ground following a stop-start second day with Durham commencing their 120 over first innings on 74.3.

Gavin Griffiths took control as he finished off the 75th over from the Bennett End with Durham on 227 for six.

It took just 12 balls before Leicestershire picked up where they left off yesterday, as Griffiths claimed his third of the innings with the wicket of Coughlin (0).

The 26-year old quick delivered a peach of a ball that swung out and enticed Coughlin into making a shot. All the batsman could get on it though was a thick outside edge that guided the ball straight into the hands of Sam Evans who took an easy grab at backward point.

Durham were now 227 for seven having put on 0 runs for the seventh wicket as Brydon Carse emerged to join former-Fox Ned Eckersley at the crease.

Carse and Eckersley responded well to Leicestershire’s seventh with 21 runs before play was stopped due to rainfall with Durham sitting on 250 for seven after 83.2 overs.

The rain failed to subside and following further inspection from the umpires, and early lunch was taken at 12:30.

Following lunch, discussion between umpires, captains and groundsmen took place which resulted in play being brought to a premature end on day three.

Durham end the final day on 250 for seven after 83.2 overs.
