Foxes in good form

Aadil Ali shone as Kibworth remain well clear at the top of the Everards Premier League after a five-wicket home win against Leicester Ivanhoe.

Leicestershire had three Academy players in good form for Ivanhoe, Harry Swindells scoring 52 while Sam Evans and Jack Gilford made scores in the 30s as the visitors posted 252-5.

Ali added an unbeaten 66 to figures of 1-38 off 8 overs while Matt Craven and Pite van Biljoen also scored half-centuries as Kibworth maintained their 65-point advantage.

Ollie Freckingham and Tom Wells took a wicket apiece for second placed Loughborough Town who restricted Hinckley Town/CCA to 228-9 despite 36 from Foxes batsman Michael Burgess.

Wells then scored 64 as part of an opening stand of 114 with Anish Patel (63) as Loughborough chased it down for the loss of three wickets.

Jigar Naik's excellent 79 helped Sileby Town to win an entertaining game at Earl Shilton, the visitors getting home by two wickets in a successful pursuit of 228.

Another Leicestershire man in decent form was Rob Taylor, who made 66 for Market Harborough. Matt Stokes has been playing for the club's Second XI and he top-scored with 78 not out.

It wasn't enough to deny Syston as former Leicestershire Academy trio Charles Wootton (92 not out), Ram Ghuman (56) and George Corbett (33) were in great form to guide their side to a seven-wicket success.

A brilliant last wicket stand helped Lutterworth to cling on for a draw at Barkby United. Former Fox Matthew Boyce (78) and Steve Flowers (54) were in fine fettle as Barkby scored 234 but Lutterworth, who were 129-9 with 15 overs to go, held firm.

Nathan Welham soaked up 85 balls for 9 not out while last man George Terry made an equally important unbeaten 39.

Barrow Town landed a much-needed win against Rothley Park. Sandeep Salgotra scored 57 and although wrist-spinner Hamzah Khan took 5-19, Barrow managed to put 179 on the board.

Another leg-spinner, Rajneesh Kumar, had a big influence by claiming 4-23 while Salgotra continued his fine game by taking 3-12 with his off-breaks as Rothley were dismissed for 124.
