Foxes Make Finan Addition

Leicestershire CCC is delighted to announce the signing of left-arm quick bowler Michael Finan following a successful trial period.

The 26-year-old will link up with his new teammates immediately and is added straight into the squad for today’s Royal London Cup fixture against East Midlands rivals Nottinghamshire.

Finan has plied his trade for National County side Cheshire since 2019, where he has taken 42 wickets at an average of 23 across all formats, including 22 at 20.8 in white-ball cricket.

After progressing through the age groups and academy at Lancashire, the Tameside-born bowler went on to represent Northamptonshire and Yorkshire at Second Team level, with his most recent twos appearance coming in Yorkshire’s one-wicket victory over Derbyshire in the Second Eleven Championship last month.

A player in possession of impressive pace, the left-armer attracted interest across the counties before committing to a two-year deal with the Foxes.

Discussing the move, Finan said: “I’m extremely excited to be here. It’s materialised very quickly and perhaps a bit unexpectedly, but I’m looking forward to getting stuck in.

“The lads have been really welcoming. I know how well they’re playing at the moment, so it’s about making sure I keep my standards up to their standards.”

Speaking about the Foxes’ latest addition, Head Coach Paul Nixon said: “Mikey’s a really exciting prospect. He’s a strong character, who wants to get in the battle, and that’s exactly what we need.

“He’s a guy who’s got great pace, with the potential to get stronger and even quicker working with Alfonso Thomas, so we see a high ceiling.”

Finan will take the number 4 shirt for the Foxes.
