Foxes name 13 for RLODC opener

Following tonight’s impressive NatWest T20 Blast win against Durham Jets, Leicestershire Foxes has named a 13-man squad for the Royal London One-Day Cup opener against the same opposition tomorrow (11am start).

Umar Akmal is not involved in the game as the club can only play one overseas player in the tournament, with Aadil Ali taking his place in the 13.

That is the only change to the squads named in the NatWest T20 Blast fixtures against Derbyshire Falcons and Durham Jets this weekend, so James Sykes and Rob Taylor are also in contention for starts.

Elite Performance Director Andrew McDonald was pleased with today’s performance against the Jets and is looking for something similar tomorrow.

He said: “The bowlers picked up where they left off yesterday (at Derbyshire) and as a general theme our fielding has been outstanding in NatWest T20 Blast.

“We were always in control in the field, then we had a solid if not spectacular powerplay, which was important in the context of the game.

“The 50-over game is different, such as there’s one less fielder allowed out of the circle, but it’s all a bit less frantic. We’re looking to gel quickly and get our roles right in this format.”

Squad: Pettini (capt), Cosgrove, K O’Brien, Ali, N O’Brien, Dexter, Hill, Wells, Raine, Taylor, McKay, Naik, Sykes.
