Foxes name 14 for Lightning visit

Leicestershire Foxes will be looking to replicate their recent NatWest T20 Blast performance when Lancashire Lightning arrive at the Fischer County Ground for tomorrow’s Royal London One-Day Cup fixture (11am start).

The Foxes batsmen posted 207-3 against Lightning thanks to a superb second wicket alliance between captain Mark Pettini and Cameron Delport, and although Alviro Petersen struck a superb unbeaten century in reply, the team won by nine runs.

It was County’s highest ever T20 score in a match aggregate of 405 runs at the FCG and runs have also been a theme in the two Royal London One-Day cup contests at home games.

Travis Head and Jack Leaning shared a record partnership for Yorkshire yesterday and in games against Durham Jets and the Vikings, a total of 1,230 runs have been amassed for the loss of 28 wickets on two excellent wickets.

Lewis Hill was the Foxes’ top-scorer with a fine half-century as the young batsman built on his terrific form in NatWest T20 Blast.

The Foxes have made four adjustments to their squad with Rob Taylor again missing out through injury.

Fellow left arm seamer Dieter Klein will be part of a 14-man squad, subject to ECB registration, having impressed on his Second XI debut last week. The 27-year-old took 5-56 in the first innings of the draw against MCC Universities at Desborough Town.

Michael Burgess, Ned Eckersley and Ollie Freckingham have also received a call-up, coming in for Angus Robson, Aadil Ali and Ben Raine.

Foxes (from): Pettini (capt), K O’Brien, Cosgrove, Horton, Hill, N O’Brien (w/k), Delport, Dexter, Eckersley, Burgess, McKay, Freckingham, Sayer, Klein.
