Foxes progress reflected in PCA MVP rankings

Leicestershire’s impressive start to this season’s NatWest T20 Blast is reflected in the appearance of Clint McKay and Colin Ackermann in the top 10 of the competition’s Professional Cricketers’ Association Most Valuable Player Rankings.

Leicestershire are the only unbeaten side in the North Group, having won their first three matches with seamer McKay and all-rounder Ackermann both making significant contributions.

McKay took five for 11, Leicestershire’s best-ever bowling figures in T20 cricket, to set up victory against Worcestershire at New Road last Friday.

Ackermann recorded his own T20-best figures – three for 21 – in the victory over Warwickshire at Edgbaston on Sunday having contributed significantly with the bat in the victories over Lancashire at Liverpool and Worcestershire.

The all-rounder made an unbeaten 62 from 41 balls against Lancashire and 47 not out from 36 balls against Worcestershire and is now seventh in this season’s T20 PCA MVP with 54 points, one place and a point behind McKay.

The PCA MVP Rankings system identifies the match-winners and key influencers of matches throughout the domestic season.

The formula takes into account conditions, quality of opposition, captaincy and strike-rates as well as runs scored and wickets taken.

Leicestershire's second overseas player Luke Ronchi is in 31st place in the T20 PCA MVP on 35 points with Cameron Delport 47th and Callum Parkinson 82nd.

McKay is Leicestershire’s highest-ranked player in this season’s overall PCA MVP in 36th position with 209 points in all competitions.

Mark Cosgrove is 21 places further back on 179 points with Ned Eckersley 80th and Ackermann 93rd.
